Caleb Oluwafemi has been named the first young people’s Laureate for London. A poet laureate is a poet officially appointed by a government or conferring institution, often expected to compose poems for special events and occasions.
Caleb, from Peckham, South-East London, was selected for the role by a panel which consisted of the Poetry Society and the Forward Arts Foundation. The position will be held for a period of one year, whereby he will set out to give Londoners between the age of 13 and 25, a platform to voice their concerns and experiences through poetry.
